Raw African Black soap is unique in the world. Black soap is simply made from the ashes of cocoa pods and plantain, raw palm and shea butters by African women. The women have formed cooperatives to manage the trees, harvest the nuts and create the raw shea butter and to produce the soap.
We make sure we purchase our black soap through the cooperatives directly from the women themselves. We know there are cooperatives that are managed by foreign countries, and these butters can be had for less money - but then less money ends up in the hand of the women. Help us support the women in Ghana, Mali, Uganda, New Guinea, Niger, Nigeria, and the Ivory Coast.
